I have had several messages lately from parents asking if the Moovlee videos are suitable for young children if they can't do the exercises properly, so I thought it would be worthwhile offering my opinion on this. I absolutely do not think it matters! I feel that when kids are little, it is best to let them interpret/perform the moves in their own way and most importantly, learn that exercise is fun. If we instil a love of movement in our little ones, they are more likely to include exercise in their lives as they get older because they enjoy it. On the other hand, if we force our kids to participate and constantly correct what they are doing wrong, they will associate exercise with negative emotions and not want to participate any more. So basically, if you put on a yoga video and your child likes to watch it and jump around the house like a kangaroo, let them! They are still getting the benefits of movement and learning that exercise is fun!
As children get older they may become more interested in the actual poses or exercises being shown. If you notice your child shows a particular interest in yoga poses or martial arts movement for example, I would then suggest getting them to a face to face class with an instructor and then they can focus on improving and performing exercises correctly. My main aim for these videos has always been to provide a fun resource that will encourage a love of movement and normalise breathing and relaxation exercises as a part of everyday life.
One more thing (I know I say this all the time!), the best way to gently encourage your child's participation is to do the exercises yourself! These exercises are 100% beneficial for adults as well and if your little ones see you watching and copying the movements they are much more likely to join you and try themselves. Even if they participate for one minute out of a 5 minute video it's something!
Anyways that's all! Im so happy that so many people have found some benefit in the Moovlee videos, our little channel now has over 5 million views! If you ever have any questions or suggestions feel free to contact reach out anytime, either on this website, Facebook or Instagram. Have fun and keep moving!
